Shools Reopen In Lagos State And Ogun In Adherence Of Guidelines
Public and private schools on Monday adhered to COVID-19 safety guidelines as final year classes recommenced ahead of the scheduled August,17 West African Senior Secondary School Examination, WASSCE.
The Federal Government had last Monday ordered schools to reopen for the Junior Secondary School 3 and Senior Secondary School 3 students.
Checks in Lagos and Ogun states indicated high level of compliance with safety guidelines announced by the Federal Government in accordance with preventive measures introduced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.
At Ifako Ijaiye Senior Comprehensive High School, Ifako Ijaiye, returning students without face masks were denied entry into the school compound while a hand
washing stand was placed at the entrance of the school. The students then had to proceed to the next stand to check their temperatures before going into their various classes.
The students were also scattered into different classes as they observed social distancing.
Similarly, Caros International School, Ibafo, Ogun State had a wash basin and hand sanitiser at the main entrance of the school.
The students and members of staff were also seen wearing face masks, while some wore face shields.

Each class usually had between 3o and 35 students. However, in compliance with the COVID-19 guideline for resumption of schools, classes had been decongested to observe social distancing among the students.
In a chat with AN24.net correspondent, an SS3 student of the school, Adunbarin Awe stated that the school management was really strict with the students, “especially the unruly ones who didn’t bring face masks.”
"Some students were turned back at the entrance and their parents were called on the phone to ask them. Some had it in their bags but refused to wear them. Our proprietress has ordered teachers to flog any student caught without a mask,” he said.
At Lagos African Church Grammar School, Ifako, there was also put in place all safety measures ahead of Tuesday, August 4, resumption.
According to the School Vice Principal, students were directed to resume on Tuesday in order to disinfect the school environment.
