COVID-19:U.S.A. Donates 200 Ventilators To Nigeria

 The Nigeria Government has received 200 ventilators donated to the country by Donald Trump,The US President.

Trump had in a telephone chat with President Muhammadu Buhari on April, 28, 2020, promised to support Nigeria’s response to COVID-19 by sending ventilators.

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, while receiving the ventilators on behalf of the Nigerian Government from the United States Agency for International Development at a ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday, stated that life had not been the same for Nigerians since the first COVID-19 case was reported in February.

He stated: “This donation consists of 200 ventilators, which, as we all know by now, are a critical component of the response strategy to save the lives of persons who have been severely impacted by this viral infection.

"They will certainly be of great benefit to the people of Nigeria and I wish to convey the appreciation of His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and of the government of Nigeria, to President Donald Trump and the United States Government for the generous consideration and friendly gesture.

"The Federal Ministry of Health, and its public health Agency, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, have focused on providing guidance to tackle the challenges.

"Our health workers have been trained and equipped and are doing the needful to attend to COVID-19 patients and give emergency care, while not losing sight of routine and essential health services.”

Schools Reopening:Ogun State Grants Automatic Promotion To All Students

      The Ogun  state government,Nigeria, has announced that all students had been given automatic promotion to the next class, including automatic enrollment for primary 6 students in public primary schools into JSS1 of public secondary schools.  New students who are resuming for the first time after the nationwide closure in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will join students in SS3 who are now writing the West African School Certificate Examination. The students will be joining in their new classes for the first term of 2020/2021 academic session. Meanwhile, early Child Care Development and Education classes, comprising pupils of 3-5 years, will not resume yet in public schools until the next phase of schools’ reopening.      The Lagos State Government has said it will promote students in state-owned schools to the next classes based on their continuous assessments performance. The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, revealed this at interview on Channels Television on Thursday. Adefisayo also indicated that there was still no definite date for the full reopening of schools. “(For) the reopening (of schools), we are working with the Federal Government.
