COVID-19:Incredible!Nigeria Announces Over 11,000 Patients Discharged In 1 Day

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its COVID-19 update on Tuesday announced that more than 11,100 patients have recovered from the virus and have been discharged within 24 hours .
 The report released on the Centre’s official Twitter handle on Tuesday (4th August) stated that 31,851 patients have recovered from the virus;which indicates a sudden surge of 11,188 when compared with the report posted on Monday (3rd August) which indicated that 20,663 patients were discharged. Meanwhile, the comparison of NCDC report on Sunday (2nd of August) and that of Monday (3rd August) showed a margin of 355. 
 According to the Centre’s update on Tuesday (4th August), Nigeria reported 304 new cases of COVID-19.
 The state listed with the new cases include: “FCT-90; Lagos-59; Ondo-39; Taraba-18; Rivers-17; Borno-15; Adamawa-12; Oyo-11; Delta-9; Edo-6; Bauchi-4; Kwara-4; Ogun-4; Osun-4; Bayelsa-3; Plateau-3; Niger-3; Nasarawa-2; Kano-1. 
It also indicates “44,433 confirmed 31,851 discharged 910 deaths”.
 In the release of Monday (3rd August), there was 288 confirmed new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria. The states listed with the new cases were; “Lagos-88; Kwara-33; Osun-27; FCT-25; Enugu-25; Abia-20; Kaduna-17; Plateau-13; Rivers-13; Delta-10; Gombe-8; Ogun-4; Oyo-3; Katsina-1; Bauchi-1. 
Also ,there were"44,129 confirmed cases , 20,663 discharged and 896 deaths”. 
So far, Kogi State has the smallest number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The state has recorded only 5 confirmed cases as at August,4. 
Lagos State remains the epicentre Nigerian state with the highest number of confirmed cases.
 The mega city has recorded 15, 414 cases as at August,4.

COVID-19:FGN reopens doors for schools running international curriculum

               The federal government of Nigeria -FGN- has has given schools using international curriculum the go-ahead to continue third term in order to complete their school session and write their exams online. This is part of measures aim at easing the lockdown imposed in the country to keep the spread of corona virus pandemic under control. The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Chukwumeka Nwajiuba, who revealed this in Abuja while fielding questions from journalists at the daily press briefing of the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19, said this has become necessary as there were private schools licenced to run foreign curriculum especially for children of expatriates and diplomats.     The Lagos State Ministry of Education has released school calendar for 2020/2021 session. Olaniran Emmanuel, Head of Public Affairs, Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) issued the details in a statement at the weekend. Public and private schools below tertiary level will commence First Term academic activities on Monday, 21st September, 2020 while the term runs through Friday 18th December, 2020. The Second Term begins on Monday 4th January, 2020 and runs through Friday 6th April, 2021 while students will resume for Third Term on Tuesday 4th May, 2021 and close on Friday 6th August, 2021. COVID-19:Pdt BUHARI Oders For Compulsory Wearing Of Face Masks Nationwide

     President Muhammadu Buhari has directed state governments and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to enforce the compulsory wearing of face masks in public places nationwide. This was announced by Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task force on COVID-19. Boss Mustapha was addressing journalists during Thursday’s PTF briefing. According to him, “President Buhari also asked the PTF to partner with states and local governments to improve community sensitisation and engagement to step up response to the COVID-19 response. COVID-19:FGN Says Any School Caught Violating Safety Protocols As They Resume Will be shut down

  As some states are about to  resume school, the Federal Government of Nigeria said normal procedures should be followed. Any school willing to resume must be cleared and given a go-ahead by their State Government. In the PTF meeting which was held yesterday, September 14th, the minister  of state for education Chukwuemaka Nwajiuba stated that t he Ministry of education would shut down any  school that violates covid-19 protocols. Any school that plans to resume must first make sure all covid 19 containment measures are put in place for safe reopening for their student. They  must be cleared for resumption after thoroughly examining them.  That is the main protocol. In this light, it is illegal for any school to resume without approval from constituted authorities.               The United Nations has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to ensure that safety protocols against the spread of COVID-19 are in place before full reopening of schools. The global agency stated that about 46 million primary and secondary learners across Nigeria are affected due to pandemic-related school closures. Ogun State To Reopen Schools Sept 21,To Adopt Staggered Timetables

          The Ogun State Government has announced Monday, September 21, 2020, the date for reopening of schools in the state for the first term of 2020/2021 session. The government, however, staggered the resumption and closing times for primary and secondary schools, while colleges and tertiary institutions keep full normal hours. The government said this on Monday in a press release by the Chief Press Secretary to the state Governor, Kunle Somorin.
