COVID-19:Pdt BUHARI Oders For Compulsory Wearing Of Face Masks Nationwide

  President Muhammadu Buhari has directed state governments and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to enforce the compulsory wearing of face masks in public places nationwide.

This was announced by Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task force on COVID-19.

Boss Mustapha was addressing journalists during Thursday’s PTF briefing.

According to him, “President Buhari also asked the PTF to partner with states and local governments to improve community sensitisation and engagement to step up response to the COVID-19 response.

"He has also encouraged state governments to collaborate with local government authorities to intensify necessary measures such as contact tracing, grassroots mobilisation and risk communication.

"He also ordered that collaboration with other mandate groups at federal/state levels to harmonise the country’s COVID-19 response be strengthened on the short, medium and long-term basis.”

COVID-19:WHO Urges Safety As African Airlines Resume Flights

                     The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for caution as African airlines resume operations in various countries. The WHO stressed that strict measures should be observed to prevent surges in Corona virus infections. The organisation asked governments to ensure airlines collect the information of passengers travelling and follow up with them to prevent outbreaks. The WHO Regional Director for Africa Dr. Matshidiso Moeti indicated air travel was important for the economy but the current situation still requires stringent measures to stem the spread of Covid-19.          The Federal Government Of Nigeria on Monday ordered all schools in the country to reopen for graduating pupils in Primary 6, JSS 3 and SSS 3 as from August,4. It also announced that this year’s 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination,WASSCE would commence on August ,17. This was contained in a statement published on Monday by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Ben Goong. In the statement titled, ‘Exit Classes To Reopen August 4th’, the ministry indicated that the agreed dates were part of the resolutions reached after a consultative meeting with the education commissioners of the 36 states of the federation and other stakeholders.
