COVID-19:Lagos Government To Promote Students Using Continuous Assessment

The Lagos State Government has said it will promote students in state-owned schools to the next classes based on their continuous assessments performance.

The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, revealed this at interview on Channels Television on Thursday.

Adefisayo also indicated that there was still no definite date for the full reopening of schools.

“(For) the reopening (of schools), we are working with the Federal Government. So I cannot unilaterally say that we are doing this or that, but we are planning.

“There are two scenarios. If we don’t have a third term, it means that we have to push the next session to next year.

"But if the students do not do the third term examination, they will use their CA (continuous assessment),” she stated.

COVID-19:Schools To Resume with Staggered Timetables In Lagos State

     Lagos State primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions will be using staggered timetables and different teaching practices to meet the COVID-19 protocols as directed by the state government. The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had announced that tertiary institutions would resume September 14, with primary and secondary schools tentatively reopening September 21.         The sum of N1.5bn was spent as COVID-19 relief fund for staff of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC , Kemebradikumo Pondei, Acting Managing Director of the commission, said. Pondei revealed this at the investigative hearing on the N40bn corruption allegation against the commission. The Senate had on May 5 set up a seven-man ad-hoc committee to investigate the financial mismanagement of the Interim Management Committee of the NDDC. The WHO stressed that strict measures should be observed to prevent surges in Corona virus infections.        The Federal Government of Nigeria says state governments and school administrators should start making preparations for the full resumption of school in the country.
