COVID-19:Lagos Government To Promote Students Using Continuous Assessment

The Lagos State Government has said it will promote students in state-owned schools to the next classes based on their continuous assessments performance.

The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, revealed this at interview on Channels Television on Thursday.

Adefisayo also indicated that there was still no definite date for the full reopening of schools.

“(For) the reopening (of schools), we are working with the Federal Government. So I cannot unilaterally say that we are doing this or that, but we are planning.

“There are two scenarios. If we don’t have a third term, it means that we have to push the next session to next year.

"But if the students do not do the third term examination, they will use their CA (continuous assessment),” she stated.

COVID-19:Kogi,Osun States Announce School Resumption Dates

       Kogi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, has announced that schools in the State will fully resume September 14, 2020.This includes all primary and secondary schools,as well as tertiary institutions. This announcement came after the one made by the Lagos State G overnor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu,who ordered that all Tertiary Institutions in Lagos State should resume by 14th of September, 2020, and that primary and secondary schools should resume on 21st of the same month.      President Muhammadu Buhari has directed state governments and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to enforce the compulsory wearing of face masks in public places nationwide. This was announced by Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task force on COVID-19. Boss Mustapha was addressing journalists during Thursday’s PTF briefing.                The federal government of Nigeria -FGN- has has given schools using international curriculum the go-ahead to continue third term in order to complete their school session and write their exams online. This is part of measures aim at easing the lockdown imposed in the country to keep the spread of corona virus pandemic under control. The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Chukwumeka Nwajiuba, who revealed this in Abuja while fielding questions from journalists at the daily press briefing of the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19, said this has become necessary as there were private schools licenced to run foreign curriculum especially for children of expatriates and diplomats. Any school willing to resume must be cleared and given a go-ahead by their State Government. COVID-19:Lagos State Releases New Plans For The 20/21 Academic Session As Schools Reopen

Ahead of the resumption of activities in both public and private schools, Lagos State Government on Sunday released a new academic structure adopted in the state after the lockdown of schools occasioned by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
