Pdt Trump Evacuated , Press conference Interrupted As Shootings Erupt At White House

"Secret Service guards shot a person, who was apparently armed, outside the White House." President Donald Trump disclosed this on Monday just after being briefly evacuated in the middle of a press conference.

The president was abruptly  taken out of the press event and black-clad secret service agents with automatic rifles rushed across the lawn north of the White House.

Few minutes later, Trump reappeared at the press conference, where journalists had been locked in, and revealed that someone had been shot outside the White House grounds.

He said law enforcement shot someone who seems to be, the suspect. And the suspect was on the way to the hospital.

Trump said he didn't know anything about the identity or motives of the person shot, but when asked if the person had been armed, he answered: “From what I understand, the answer is yes.”

     President Muhammadu Buhari has directed state governments and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to enforce the compulsory wearing of face masks in public places nationwide. This was announced by Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task force on COVID-19. Boss Mustapha was addressing journalists during Thursday’s PTF briefing. According to him, “President Buhari also asked the PTF to partner with states and local governments to improve community sensitisation and engagement to step up response to the COVID-19 response. "He has also encouraged state governments to collaborate with local government authorities to intensify necessary measures such as contact tracing, grassroots mobilisation and risk communication. "He also ordered that collaboration with other mandate groups at federal/state levels to harmonise the country’s COVID-19 response be strengthened on the short, medium and long-term basis.”

COVID-19:FGN Says Any School Caught Violating Safety Protocols As They Resume Will be shut down

  As some states are about to  resume school, the Federal Government of Nigeria said normal procedures should be followed. Any school willing to resume must be cleared and given a go-ahead by their State Government. In the PTF meeting which was held yesterday, September 14th, the minister  of state for education Chukwuemaka Nwajiuba stated that t he Ministry of education would shut down any  school that violates covid-19 protocols. Any school that plans to resume must first make sure all covid 19 containment measures are put in place for safe reopening for their student.     The Lagos State Ministry of Education has released school calendar for 2020/2021 session. Olaniran Emmanuel, Head of Public Affairs, Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) issued the details in a statement at the weekend. Public and private schools below tertiary level will commence First Term academic activities on Monday, 21st September, 2020 while the term runs through Friday 18th December, 2020. The Second Term begins on Monday 4th January, 2020 and runs through Friday 6th April, 2021 while students will resume for Third Term on Tuesday 4th May, 2021 and close on Friday 6th August, 2021.        Kogi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, has announced that schools in the State will fully resume September 14, 2020.This includes all primary and secondary schools,as well as tertiary institutions.               The United Nations has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to ensure that safety protocols against the spread of COVID-19 are in place before full reopening of schools.
