Sanwo-Olu Announces August,3 As Resumption Date For Graduating Classes

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced August 3 as the new date for the partial reopening of schools in the state.
According to a Channels tweet,the ann -ouncement was made at a media briefing on Friday, by the governor who said the resumption is for those in SSS 3.
According to the governor, the decision was taken following a meeting with stak -eholders in the education sector.
He, however, clarified that though schools would be reopened for the transitional classes on August 3, students in Senior Secondary School three and Technical School three would start first.
He added that pupils in primary schools and Junior Secondary School three students may resume school a week or two weeks after the SSS3 students’ resumption.
The governor asked school authorities in the transitional classes to make adequate preparation for resumption ahead of August 3.
He stated:“Tertiary institutions will remai- n closed. We continue to support online teaching during this period.
"However, students in the transitional cla -sses who have mandatory public examin -ations ahead of them will be permitted to resume for revision classes and examin -ations. The commencement date for this will be from Monday, August 3rd.
" All educational establishments are to follow the guidelines for the reopening. "We just finished a very serious meeting with stakeholders in the educational sector for the reopening.
“SS3 and TECH three students are to start; for JSS3, and primary six, they will wait for about a week or two before resumption.
“This permitted opening will apply for only day schooling. No boarding activities are permitted during this time. School authorities are expected to prepare well from now till August 3.”The Governor said.

COVID19:FGN releases guidelines for local and int'l travels as airports start reopening

                       Passengers travelling abroad through Nigeria’s airport terminals are required to be at the airport five hours before departure to undergo COVID-19 protocols, the Nigeria Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, has announced. The Minister said this on Saturday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos when he disclosed some of the measures introduced for the reopening of the country’s airports closed in March  due to the COVID-19 outbreak. COVID-19:Presidential Task Force Indicates Decline In Cases

Dr Sani Aliyu,Coordinator of Presidential Task Force (PTF),has said that positive cases of COVID-19 are going down gradually as the recent released figures evolve around 400. He stated this at the daily COVID-19 briefing of the PTF on Monday, August 10 in Abuja. Aliyu , however, warned that the decrease was not in a way a win. He stated that all the non-pharmaceutical guidelines must be followed to achieve complete success in the fight against COVID-19.          Ogun State Government is to refund money already paid by some parents for COVID-19 tests for their children. The government had earlier made it mandatory for each boarding pupil in private schools to pay N25,000 part payment for the test. Governor Dapo Abiodun, however, cancelled the test on Monday, after opposition and protests. The governor also apologized for the stress that this earlier decision caused affected parents and pupils.       The World Health Organization (WHO)  has stated conditions for prequalification approval of the Russian vaccine . According to the WHO, scientists need to tho roughly review and assess   the required safety and efficacy data  before taking any decision on the vaccine. Sanwo-Olu Approves Full Reopening Of Churches,Mosques

  The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the full reopening of worship centres in the state. He made the announcement during a briefing in Lagos on Saturday. The governor indicated that mosques can hold their prayers five times daily while churches are also allowed to commence weekly services.
