By

As the corona virus pandemic continue to spread all over the world, countries have started to proffer solutions on how to curb the deadly disease in their countries.
With more than hundred thousand lives lost all over the world due to this pandemic, no one wants to lose anymore live. Hence measures are put in place to fight this novel pandemic.
In this perspective, the measures put in place in schools in China to ensure their pulpils and students go back to school after a long lockdown are quite understandable.

Hands Sanitizing at school's Entrance

In Nigeria, schools are currently shutdown due to spread of the virus among students.
Below are some of the photos of the new classroom arrangement in schools in China.

1.  Special individual desks are constructed to enable social distancing in the classroom and to avoid body contact among the students.

2. Special face shield for students.

3.  Social distancing is properly maintained in the classroom.

Don't you think other countries  should emulate this China Example so as to save school from current deadlock?

See the foods better to buy frozen than fresh

By

Berries Raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries are sweet summer treats. But they can quickly turn moldy even when in the supermarket. Buy them frozen and you can lock in the nutrients and enjoy them in season or not. Eat them direct out of the freezer,or unfreeze before baking them  into cobblers, muffins, or pies. Pro tip: add an extra dash of starch or other thickener to soak up the juices Spring Peas These sweet pods have a very short season. That’s the reason almost all shelled peas are sold frozen. That’s not necessarily bad. The frozen ones just might have  more  nutrients. That’s because fresh produce start loosing vitamins and minerals within hours or days. The frozen stuff is often picked, prepared, and packaged when it’s at its nutritious peak.   Fish Freezing methods have come a long way from the days of friendly fish sticks. Fish catcher usually flash freeze their haul right on the boat at 40 degrees below zero. The temperature locks in the fis...

The protest took place both at the Unity Fountain and at the Ministry of Education, both in the Federal Capital Territory. The President of the National Association of University Students, Ejigah Felix, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, lamented the fact that schools have been closed for too long. Ejigah  said:“our demands are that our schools should be reopene...

In the PTF meeting which was held yesterday, September 14th, the minister  of state for education Chukwuemaka Nwajiuba stated that t he Ministry of education would shut down any  school that violates covid-19 protocols. Any school that plans to resume must first make sure all covid 19 containment measures are put in place for safe reopening for their student. They  must be cleared for resumption after thoroughly examining them.  That is the main protocol. In this light, it is illegal for any school to resume without approval from constituted authorities. The safety of everyone, especially the children should be a number one priority. It is wrong for an institution to resume when it does not have the capacity to curtail corona virus infection spr...

Madagascar’s coronavirus herbal concoction, known as COVID-19 Organics, is not as potent as claimed to cure the COVID-19 pandemic, said Nigeria’s state-run pharmaceutical research institute In a report presented to the health Ministry on Sunday, July 19. The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) said safety studies show that Covid-Organics (CVO) do not alter the normal physiology of the animals. In April, Madagascar’s President  Andry Rajoelina  officially launched the CVO — an organic herbal concoction — claiming that it could prevent and cure patients of the novel coronavirus. Obi Adigwe , NIPRD’s director general, said Madagascar officials were hiding CVO analysis. "They are hiding a lot of things and I think it is possible that they know that they don’t have strong science backing up their claim. But our own analysis does not show any proof that it can cure COVID-19,”  he said. Adigwe  indicated that the a...

At this moment, your brain is invariably maintaining your breathing and heart rate, while changing these black squiggles  into coherent words and thoughts. The brain appears be a workhorse and a hungry one at that. While accounting for around 2% of the average adult’s weight, it accounts for  20%  of its energy requirements, more than any other organ. You could give your brain a mental compliment and then have a thought about how meta that was. It is fascinating; Neuroscience research is  booming . Growing interest and funding for neuroscience research has brought about a multiplying fields of interdisciplinary neuroscience that varies from clinical studies in neurodegenerative and behavioral disorders to basic science studies...

By

The fight against COVID-19 is ongoing. Nigeria has recorded a breakthrough in Africa with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) successfully validating the first phase of the viral Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) extraction which could enable local production of cheap testing kits for corona virus. The validation happened on Thursday in the laboratory of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) in Abuja. The Director-General of NABDA, Prof. Alex Akpa, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the move that the success of the validation was significant not only to Nigeria but Africa as a whole. “The success of this validation will enable us to massively produce test kits to make it easier for people to be tested for COVID-19, not only in Nigeria but in Africa. The immediate aim is to produce reagents for real time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), and remember, recently the lack of reagents stalled work in Kano and molecular di...
