Breaking News:FGN Announces August,17 As Commencement Date of WASSCE

The Federal Government Of Nigeria on Monday ordered all schools in the country to reopen for graduating pupils in Primary 6, JSS 3 and SSS 3 as from August,4.
It also announced that this year’s 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination,WASSCE would commence on August ,17.
This was contained in a statement published on Monday by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Ben Goong.
In the statement titled, ‘Exit Classes To Reopen August 4th’, the ministry indicated that the agreed dates were part of the resolutions reached after a consultative meeting with the education commissioners of the 36 states of the federation and other stakeholders.

Schools Reopening:Ogun State Grants Automatic Promotion To All Students

      The Ogun  state government,Nigeria, has announced that all students had been given automatic promotion to the next class, including automatic enrollment for primary 6 students in public primary schools into JSS1 of public secondary schools.  New students who are resuming for the first time after the nationwide closure in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will join students in SS3 who are now writing the West African School Certificate Examination. The students will be joining in their new classes for the first term of 2020/2021 academic session. Meanwhile, early Child Care Development and Education classes, comprising pupils of 3-5 years, will not resume yet in public schools until the next phase of schools’ reopening. COVID-19:Lagos Government To Promote Students Using Continuous Assessment

     The Lagos State Government has said it will promote students in state-owned schools to the next classes based on their continuous assessments performance. The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, revealed this at interview on Channels Television on Thursday. Adefisayo also indicated that there was still no definite date for the full reopening of schools. “(For) the reopening (of schools), we are working with the Federal Government. So I cannot unilaterally say that we are doing this or that, but we are planning. “There are two scenarios. If we don’t have a third term, it means that we have to push the next session to next year.               The United Nations has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to ensure that safety protocols against the spread of COVID-19 are in place before full reopening of schools.
