Breaking News:FGN Announces August,17 As Commencement Date of WASSCE

The Federal Government Of Nigeria on Monday ordered all schools in the country to reopen for graduating pupils in Primary 6, JSS 3 and SSS 3 as from August,4.
It also announced that this year’s 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination,WASSCE would commence on August ,17.
This was contained in a statement published on Monday by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Ben Goong.
In the statement titled, ‘Exit Classes To Reopen August 4th’, the ministry indicated that the agreed dates were part of the resolutions reached after a consultative meeting with the education commissioners of the 36 states of the federation and other stakeholders.

     President Muhammadu Buhari has directed state governments and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to enforce the compulsory wearing of face masks in public places nationwide. This was announced by Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task force on COVID-19. Boss Mustapha was addressing journalists during Thursday’s PTF briefing. According to him, “President Buhari also asked the PTF to partner with states and local governments to improve community sensitisation and engagement to step up response to the COVID-19 response. "He has also encouraged state governments to collaborate with local government authorities to intensify necessary measures such as contact tracing, grassroots mobilisation and risk communication. COVID-19:Lagos State Releases New Plans For The 20/21 Academic Session As Schools Reopen

Ahead of the resumption of activities in both public and private schools, Lagos State Government on Sunday released a new academic structure adopted in the state after the lockdown of schools occasioned by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. The Commissioner for Education in the state, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo announced this in a release through, the Head of Public Affairs of the ministry, Mr. Kayode Abayomi. Adefisayo, however, congratulated Senior Secondary, SS 3 students who successfully completed their West Africa School Senior Certificate Examinations, WASSCEs and asked them to stay safe even as they await their results. COVID-19:Lagos State Education Ministry Disowns School Calendar Out

    The Lagos State Ministry of Education has distanced itself from an academic calendar stating school reopening in the state. The ministry’s Education Quality Assurance, OEQA, unit called on inhabitants of the state to disregard the resumption time table circulating on social media. The purported 2020/2021 academic calendar, indicates that the first term of the session would start September 21, 2020 and end December 18, 2020. The academic calendar also indicated that  January 11, 2021 and May 3, 2021, as the commencement dates for the second term. Reacting, the Public Affairs Officer, OEQA, Mr. Emmanuel Olaniran, stated that the timetable did not emanate from the ministry.      Lagos State primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions will be using staggered timetables and different teaching practices to meet the COVID-19 protocols as directed by the state government. The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had announced that tertiary institutions would resume September 14, with primary and secondary schools tentatively reopening September 21.        Kogi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, has announced that schools in the State will fully resume September 14, 2020.This includes all primary and secondary schools,as well as tertiary institutions.
