COVID-19:The Southwest States Agree On Schools Reopening,Set For Resumption

Commissioners of six States in the Southwest have made it known to the general public that their States are set for resumption.They include Lagos, Ogun, Oyo,Osun,Ekiti and Ondo States

The release indicated that all Commiss -ioners in the Southwest held a virtual meeting, and they all agreed to make plans for school resumption in their respective States

Thus, working towards this, Commiss -ioners across these six States have now declared that all Primary Six (6) students, Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS 3) students and Senior Secondary School 3 (SSS 3) students would be resuming at the specified date based on the guidelines released by the Federal Government.
They reached the conclusion through the virtual meeting that all final students in the States should be allowed to write their respective writing examinations.
Furthermore, Commissioners across the States have invited all parents and guardians in the respective States to start making plans to provide three (3) face masks for their children/wards which will be according to the stated rules, with which the government has made plans to protect all students as stipulated in FG guidelines.

COVID-19:Pdt BUHARI Oders For Compulsory Wearing Of Face Masks Nationwide

     President Muhammadu Buhari has directed state governments and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to enforce the compulsory wearing of face masks in public places nationwide. This was announced by Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task force on COVID-19. Boss Mustapha was addressing journalists during Thursday’s PTF briefing. According to him, “President Buhari also asked the PTF to partner with states and local governments to improve community sensitisation and engagement to step up response to the COVID-19 response. "He has also encouraged state governments to collaborate with local government authorities to intensify necessary measures such as contact tracing, grassroots mobilisation and risk communication. COVID-19:Lagos State Releases New Plans For The 20/21 Academic Session As Schools Reopen

Ahead of the resumption of activities in both public and private schools, Lagos State Government on Sunday released a new academic structure adopted in the state after the lockdown of schools occasioned by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. The Commissioner for Education in the state, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo announced this in a release through, the Head of Public Affairs of the ministry, Mr. Kayode Abayomi. Adefisayo, however, congratulated Senior Secondary, SS 3 students who successfully completed their West Africa School Senior Certificate Examinations, WASSCEs and asked them to stay safe even as they await their results. COVID-19:Lagos State Education Ministry Disowns School Calendar Out

    The Lagos State Ministry of Education has distanced itself from an academic calendar stating school reopening in the state. The ministry’s Education Quality Assurance, OEQA, unit called on inhabitants of the state to disregard the resumption time table circulating on social media. The purported 2020/2021 academic calendar, indicates that the first term of the session would start September 21, 2020 and end December 18, 2020. The academic calendar also indicated that  January 11, 2021 and May 3, 2021, as the commencement dates for the second term. Reacting, the Public Affairs Officer, OEQA, Mr. Emmanuel Olaniran, stated that the timetable did not emanate from the ministry. COVID-19:Schools To Resume with Staggered Timetables In Lagos State

     Lagos State primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions will be using staggered timetables and different teaching practices to meet the COVID-19 protocols as directed by the state government. The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had announced that tertiary institutions would resume September 14, with primary and secondary schools tentatively reopening September 21.        Kogi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, has announced that schools in the State will fully resume September 14, 2020.This includes all primary and secondary schools,as well as tertiary institutions. This announcement came after the one made by the Lagos State G overnor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu,who ordered that all Tertiary Institutions in Lagos State should resume by 14th of September, 2020, and that primary and secondary schools should resume on 21st of the same month.
