No Time Frame Yet For Schools Reopening ,Says FGN

       The Federal government of Nigeria has said that there's no time frame yet to reopen the schools in Nigeria, indicating that the school could only be reopened when it is safe to do so. This position was expressed by the state Minister of Education, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba during a live NTA interactive meeting held on Tuesday night, 10.30 pm. The programme was hosted by the popular NTA journalist, Omini Ode, and consists of the honourable minister of State Education, Director General of National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), Commissioner of Education in Enugu, Pro. Uche Eze (joined via zoom) and a parent from Kano(joined via zoom) also.. Mr. Emeka, the Honourable Minister of Education reinstated the fact that the school for the general students of secondary schools and primary schools would not be reopening yet. Ogun State To Reopen Schools Sept 21,To Adopt Staggered Timetables

          The Ogun State Government has announced Monday, September 21, 2020, the date for reopening of schools in the state for the first term of 2020/2021 session. The government, however, staggered the resumption and closing times for primary and secondary schools, while colleges and tertiary institutions keep full normal hours. The government said this on Monday in a press release by the Chief Press Secretary to the state Governor, Kunle Somorin. The government indicated that early child care development and education classes from three to five years of age are not  resuming yet in public schools until the next phase of school reopening. Schools Reopening:Lagos State Approves 20/21 Academic Calendar

    The Lagos State Ministry of Education has released school calendar for 2020/2021 session. Olaniran Emmanuel, Head of Public Affairs, Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) issued the details in a statement at the weekend. Public and private schools below tertiary level will commence First Term academic activities on Monday, 21st September, 2020 while the term runs through Friday 18th December, 2020. The Second Term begins on Monday 4th January, 2020 and runs through Friday 6th April, 2021 while students will resume for Third Term on Tuesday 4th May, 2021 and close on Friday 6th August, 2021. Director-General, OEQA, Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, urged school leaders to adopt a qualitative health and safety plan that will help protect students, teachers and workers.       The Ogun  state government,Nigeria, has announced that all students had been given automatic promotion to the next class, including automatic enrollment for primary 6 students in public primary schools into JSS1 of public secondary schools.  New students who are resuming for the first time after the nationwide closure in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will join students in SS3 who are now writing the West African School Certificate Examination. The students will be joining in their new classes for the first term of 2020/2021 academic session. Meanwhile, early Child Care Development and Education classes, comprising pupils of 3-5 years, will not resume yet in public schools until the next phase of schools’ reopening.
