Ghana Set To Go Ahead,Without Nigeria,With WAEC As Scheduled

     

A Ghana based online media outfit, Graphic Online, has reported that the Ghana Office of the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) is going ahead with planned 2020 School Certificate Examinations despite Nigeria’s withdrawal from the regional examination.
The online media, in an interview with WAEC head of public relations in Ghana, Mrs. Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, the Ghana office said it is focusing on the examination as the nation’s government has not made any communication to the contrary.
She indicated that since the government has not announced any change of its mind regarding the examination, it is prepared to conducting a credible examination for the Ghana's candidates.
According to her, when the pandemic broke out, Ghana planned how it would conduct the examination alone but other countries later keyed into the decision of the country.
Graphic Online reports that President Nana Addo  Akufo-Addo released modalities for the re-opening of schools on May 31, 2020. The resumption was from basic to tertiary institutions.
Following that decision, the schools resumed on June 22, 2020 in Ghana.
The report indicates that July 20, 2020, has been set for project work of Visual Arts candidates while other examinations will start from August 3, 2020.
