FGN Approves Full Reopening Of Schools As PhaseIII Of Eased Lockdown Begins

The Federal Government of Nigeria says state governments and school administrators should start making preparations for the full resumption of school in the country.

Remember that schools in the country were shut in March as part of measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus disease.

However, the FGN ordered the resumption only for graduating pupils effective August 4, 2020, to write this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination from August 17, 2020, through September 12, 2020.

Speaking on Thursday, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu, during a briefing at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, indicated that the task force recommends phased return of students to classrooms.

Aliyu stated: “For educational institutions which include daycare, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. Educational institutions should begin the process of working towards potentially reopening within this phase.

“However, we strongly recommend that states conduct risk assessment to ensure all schools are at a level of compliance and create a monitoring mechanism to assess, create, and monitor this level of preparedness.

“Meanwhile, all daycares and educational institutions are to remain closed to in-classes until this level of risk is assessed. And if there will be opening of schools, it must be staged and preferably carried out in phases to ensure that this does not pose a risk to the general public and in particular to vulnerable groups that might end up getting infected by students going back home",He said.

COVID-19:Pdt BUHARI Oders For Compulsory Wearing Of Face Masks Nationwide

     President Muhammadu Buhari has directed state governments and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to enforce the compulsory wearing of face masks in public places nationwide. This was announced by Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task force on COVID-19. Boss Mustapha was addressing journalists during Thursday’s PTF briefing. According to him, “President Buhari also asked the PTF to partner with states and local governments to improve community sensitisation and engagement to step up response to the COVID-19 response. COVID-19:FGN reopens doors for schools running international curriculum

               The federal government of Nigeria -FGN- has has given schools using international curriculum the go-ahead to continue third term in order to complete their school session and write their exams online. This is part of measures aim at easing the lockdown imposed in the country to keep the spread of corona virus pandemic under control. The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Chukwumeka Nwajiuba, who revealed this in Abuja while fielding questions from journalists at the daily press briefing of the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19, said this has become necessary as there were private schools licenced to run foreign curriculum especially for children of expatriates and diplomats.      Russia will start large-scale provision of the coronavirus vaccine in September, Health Ministers Mikhail Murashko stated on Monday. “The vaccines will be supplied first and foremost to health care workers and teachers,” Murashko disclosed in comments carried by state news agency TASS. The vaccination “will be absolutely voluntary,” Murashko indicated. Russia was the first country to approve a vaccine for the novel coronavirus that it said could be used by the general public. COVID-19:Schools To Resume with Staggered Timetables In Lagos State

     Lagos State primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions will be using staggered timetables and different teaching practices to meet the COVID-19 protocols as directed by the state government. The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had announced that tertiary institutions would resume September 14, with primary and secondary schools tentatively reopening September 21.        Kogi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, has announced that schools in the State will fully resume September 14, 2020.This includes all primary and secondary schools,as well as tertiary institutions. Schools Reopening:Ogun State Grants Automatic Promotion To All Students

      The Ogun  state government,Nigeria, has announced that all students had been given automatic promotion to the next class, including automatic enrollment for primary 6 students in public primary schools into JSS1 of public secondary schools.  New students who are resuming for the first time after the nationwide closure in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will join students in SS3 who are now writing the West African School Certificate Examination.
