COVID-19:FGN Says Any School Caught Violating Safety Protocols As They Resume Will be shut down

As some states are about to  resume school, the Federal Government of Nigeria said normal procedures should be followed.

Any school willing to resume must be cleared and given a go-ahead by their State Government.

In the PTF meeting which was held yesterday, September 14th, the minister  of state for education Chukwuemaka Nwajiuba stated that the Ministry of education would shut down any  school that violates covid-19 protocols.

Any school that plans to resume must first make sure all covid 19 containment measures are put in place for safe reopening for their student. They  must be cleared for resumption after thoroughly examining them. That is the main protocol.

In this light, it is illegal for any school to resume without approval from constituted authorities.

The safety of everyone, especially the children should be a number one priority. It is wrong for an institution to resume when it does not have the capacity to curtail corona virus infection spread within the school environment.

COVID-19:Schools To Resume with Staggered Timetables In Lagos State

     Lagos State primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions will be using staggered timetables and different teaching practices to meet the COVID-19 protocols as directed by the state government. The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had announced that tertiary institutions would resume September 14, with primary and secondary schools tentatively reopening September 21. Commenting on the development, the vice-chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun on Monday, indicated that students of the university would resume in batches from September.         The sum of N1.5bn was spent as COVID-19 relief fund for staff of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC , Kemebradikumo Pondei, Acting Managing Director of the commission, said. Pondei revealed this at the investigative hearing on the N40bn corruption allegation against the commission. The Senate had on May 5 set up a seven-man ad-hoc committee to investigate the financial mismanagement of the Interim Management Committee of the NDDC. COVID-19:WHO Urges Safety As African Airlines Resume Flights

                     The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for caution as African airlines resume operations in various countries. The WHO stressed that strict measures should be observed to prevent surges in Corona virus infections. The organisation asked governments to ensure airlines collect the information of passengers travelling and follow up with them to prevent outbreaks.        The Federal Government of Nigeria says state governments and school administrators should start making preparations for the full resumption of school in the country. Remember  that schools in the country were shut in March as part of measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus disease.
