COVID-19:FGN Says Any School Caught Violating Safety Protocols As They Resume Will be shut down

As some states are about to  resume school, the Federal Government of Nigeria said normal procedures should be followed.

Any school willing to resume must be cleared and given a go-ahead by their State Government.

In the PTF meeting which was held yesterday, September 14th, the minister  of state for education Chukwuemaka Nwajiuba stated that the Ministry of education would shut down any  school that violates covid-19 protocols.

Any school that plans to resume must first make sure all covid 19 containment measures are put in place for safe reopening for their student. They  must be cleared for resumption after thoroughly examining them. That is the main protocol.

In this light, it is illegal for any school to resume without approval from constituted authorities.

The safety of everyone, especially the children should be a number one priority. It is wrong for an institution to resume when it does not have the capacity to curtail corona virus infection spread within the school environment.

Sanwo-Olu Approves Full Reopening Of Churches,Mosques

  The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the full reopening of worship centres in the state. He made the announcement during a briefing in Lagos on Saturday. The governor indicated that mosques can hold their prayers five times daily while churches are also allowed to commence weekly services. The governor had on Friday, August 7 permitted mosques and churches to commence their Friday and Sunday services only. He, however, warned that the safety protocols released by the government must be strictly observed.               The United Nations has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to ensure that safety protocols against the spread of COVID-19 are in place before full reopening of schools. COVID-19:Pdt BUHARI Oders For Compulsory Wearing Of Face Masks Nationwide

     President Muhammadu Buhari has directed state governments and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to enforce the compulsory wearing of face masks in public places nationwide. This was announced by Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task force on COVID-19. Boss Mustapha was addressing journalists during Thursday’s PTF briefing. COVID-19:Lagos State Education Ministry Disowns School Calendar Out

    The Lagos State Ministry of Education has distanced itself from an academic calendar stating school reopening in the state. The ministry’s Education Quality Assurance, OEQA, unit called on inhabitants of the state to disregard the resumption time table circulating on social media. The purported 2020/2021 academic calendar, indicates that the first term of the session would start September 21, 2020 and end December 18, 2020. The academic calendar also indicated that  January 11, 2021 and May 3, 2021, as the commencement dates for the second term. Reacting, the Public Affairs Officer, OEQA, Mr. Emmanuel Olaniran, stated that the timetable did not emanate from the ministry.                The federal government of Nigeria -FGN- has has given schools using international curriculum the go-ahead to continue third term in order to complete their school session and write their exams online. This is part of measures aim at easing the lockdown imposed in the country to keep the spread of corona virus pandemic under control.
